ESDC Enhances Food Security and Revives Agricultural Livelihoods in Al-Mawasi and Deir al-Balah with Support from Mercy Relief

The Economic and Social Development Centre of Palestine (ESDC) has successfully concluded a project aimed to strengthening food security and restoring agricultural livelihoods for vulnerable farmers in Al-Mawasi (Khan Younis) and Deir al-Balah in the Middle of Gaza Strip, by support from Mercy Relief.

The project supported 156 farmers and their households—approximately 930 individuals—through distributing fresh food parcels, agricultural input packages for 50 farmers, and the rehabilitation of five irrigation wells serving 31 farmers and their families. These efforts helped improve access to irrigation water and enabled farmers to restart their crop production.

This intervention played a key role in strengthening farmers’ resilience, restoring their income sources, and supporting the continuity of local agricultural production under challenging conditions.
